Project Detail

CJDP designed the MEP services at Schlumberger House, near Gatwick Airport. This is originally a mid 1980s construction with five floors of open and cellular office areas.

This included the complete replacement of the existing dual duct, VAV (variable air volume) and fan coil unit air conditioning systems and new centralised AHUs (air handling units) and terminal devices.

The introduction of new AHUs to meet the Part L2B requirements at a reduced SFP (specific fan power) to 2.5W/l/s, combined with more energy efficient heat recovery and recirculation, reduced energy consumption by approximately 45%.

The associated boilers in connection with the AHUs were reduced from a total load of 2.0MW to 1.2MW providing further saving in energy costs.

A new kitchen and servery were installed with dedicated ventilation system and domestic and public health services.

The design also included the installation of new dedicated ventilation, domestic and public services to serve the toilet and shower areas.

The extent of the electrical works included the complete replacement of the lighting to a new LG7 Part L2B compliant scheme to all spaces including video conference rooms (which required extensive control options), meeting rooms and cellular and open office areas.

Due to a tight timescale, full co-ordination with the tenant was required for the installation of a new main LV switch board to replace the existing board.  This took place over the period of one weekend.

New AV (audio visual), security, data, fire alarm systems were installed to all areas. The dedicated Comms Room was served by a new inergen fire suppression system.
