CJDP have just completed the design of a boiler room refurbishment for an existing government institution. As part of the government’s Building Information Modelling (BIM) initiative, all new MEP developments for government buildings are to be implemented using the BIM System.
After a detailed measured site survey for two identical blocks measuring all aspects of the existing plantrooms (including accurate pipe locations), CJDP developed an accurate 3D model using Revit MEP 2016.
The new scheme includes new boilers, hot water heaters and a plate heat exchanger in addition to various equipment and ancillaries. All new plant and pipework is highlighted in colour to help the client distinguish between old and new equipment.
This underlines the benefits of using Revit for detailed plant schemes where identification of specific plan and equipment is essential. In addition to a detailed 3D perspective of a complicated plantroom, specific sections can be selected to aid the fitters in installing the equipment as designed.
